June Newsletter

I like to hold on to the theory, hope and practice that summer months do, in fact, provide us with times of relaxation and renewal.

My hope for you, members and friends of Trinity Lutheran Church is that you allow yourselves times of renewal, as individuals, as couples, as families.

Rest               probably the most difficult part of our lives to get.  Sleep is important to our bodies and our health.

Energize        through healthy living-body, mind and spirit. Eat well. Exercise at least 30 minutes a day. Engage with others and yourself with a balance of communal gatherings and solitude.

Nourish         yourself through some quiet time in your day, even ten minutes of quiet, personal devotion time, prayer, reading a Psalm or favorite scripture or open yourself up to new scripture- let it do its work on you!, read a poem, stop weeding and just look at the garden, strike a yoga pose, read a good novel or piece of non-fiction, just sit in your boat and listen, just lean against that tree in the forest and just watch the wildlife stroll by….okay you get the idea- just do it- let it seep in your pores, let it transform you.

Encourage    offer words or actions that affirm and plant seeds of self confidence
and strength in others, and yes, even yourselves.  Notice the little
things that a child does, thank youth who go the extra mile, and

Recognize older adults who may feel like they aren’t able to   contribute like they used to.  Everyone needs encouragement.

Worship       first and foremost place worship very near the top of the summer activity       list, if not at the top.  We are created to worship- it is what God wants us to do- God likes to receive our presence.

Adore            the Creator God and the created world- the natural and human.  Adore the source of all of life and creation- Adore this one in three person: Creator, Redeemer, and Sanctifier.  Keep the first thing first:  Adoration of a God who came to us in Jesus Christ, who is the one who renews us daily in and through the Holy Spirit.

Listen       Communication, whether it is be it prayer or conversation with another) is
a two-way street in your renewal time with the Triune God, with your
family members, members: spouse and children, to co-workers, customers,
neighbors and even those with whom you disagree.
Listening is a gift to us and for us.

God go with you as we begin the summer months of outdoor recreation, travel, reunions, family gatherings, fairs, biking, a night at the races, quiet lakeshore reflections and perhaps some Twin’s baseball!
